Welcome to the first episode of 2023 of the My Daily Business Coach podcast. We're up to episode 269 and today is a quick tip. It's one to carry with you throughout this year and into next year and all of your years. It's something I try and think about, at least for a while at the start of each year. Once I know the answer, I keep it with me throughout the whole year and make it really a part of the way that I live and the way that I work. But before we get stuck into that, there are two things I want to mention. Firstly, I'd like to acknowledge the traditional owners and custodians of which I am celebrating this new year. And that is the Wurrung and Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. And I pay my respects to their elders, past, present, and emerging, and acknowledge that sovereignty has never been ceded.

The other thing I'd like to draw your attention to is the Group Coaching program. If you are hoping that 2023 is the year you finally figure out your systems, your structure, your revenue streams, your content, and your marketing, if all of that is something that you really want to work on, then group coaching is the program for you. You can find all the information, what's included, how much it costs, and who is it best for. Over at mydailybusinesscoach.com/groupcoaching, we have worked with people just starting out and people decades into their businesses. I feel like if you really put in the work, you will get just massive results. We have had so many incredible testimonials from people who have done this program; I just love it. I love to see people grow their businesses, but I also just love seeing these connections and friendships happen because those are the things that will carry you through so many ups and downs in business. Sometimes it can be hard, especially as an adult, to find those connections and those creative small business owners that can become good friends. As I said, if you're interested in that, we do close off applications at the end of this month. You can find all the information over at mydailybusinesscoach.com/groupcoaching. Let's get into today's quick tip episode.

At the start of the new year, there are always a million ideas and unsolicited advice coming your way. Perhaps some of you today might feel like that, but I really urge you to consider this and consider this question deeply. This is something that I do at the end of each year and then again at the start of the year. And then once I have come up with an answer to it, then I try to make that answer as prevalent in my life and in my business as possible. It's a tactic and a tip to ask yourself, how do I want to feel this year? How do I want to feel? And then literally use that as a barometer against what you're doing.

If you've got big decisions to make or situations or experiences that come up, to put that against the test, is this in line with how I want to feel? I'm not saying you're going to feel how you want to feel a hundred percent of the time, that's just not reality. But to think about how I want to feel when we get to the end of 2023. Do I want to feel exhausted or frustrated or depleted? If you are thinking how do I want to feel? Do I want to feel energetic or creative or curious or do I want to feel the connection? Then when you're coming against yourself in terms of looking at your revenue streams or mapping something out in your business this year or thinking about what projects you take on, or which clients or customers or stockers or suppliers you take on, you'll be thinking about them in relation to is this in line with how I want to feel this year?

I know it can sound very fluffy and very kind of up there in the clouds, but I really do know that in my own business when I have focused on this and when I have then brought that into our Asana boards, into Post-It notes on my computer into a reminder on my phone, or even into things like really tedious tasks. For example, your word was energetic. I want to feel energetic this year. I want to feel like I have energy for things. Then maybe when you're doing really tedious tasks, it's about putting up high-energy music. You have a dance around, do some reconciling of stuff in Xero, do some tedious tasks, and have another dance break. It's trying to infuse that feeling into as many places and situations and experiences in your business as you can.

Obviously, I'm well aware that just because you say you want to feel a certain way doesn't mean that you're going to feel that way all the time, but it's about being proactive and keeping that feeling that you want in front of mind. If you want to feel energetic or if you want to feel a connection, then it's like, instead of everything being on Zoom or remote, or maybe you've got suppliers, maybe you have a store and you have various suppliers, but you've never met them. You might decide, "2023, that's going to be the year where twice a year or more frequently." If you've got the resources for that, then you might think, "I'm going to go and do some site saying, and I'm going to go and visit some of these suppliers." Or you may say, “I'm actually going to have an event just for my suppliers and my makers to come into the store and meet each other.”

Maybe that's just a lovely way that you can have that connection, that feeling that you are trying to incorporate as much as you can into this year. You are actively creating that connection through connection points, like inviting your suppliers and makers into a situation where they can meet each other and where you can meet them, or going on a bit of a road trip and going to see people. Likewise, maybe you're on the other side and you're a maker and you have your products in various stockers across the country or wherever you sell them, and you're like, “I am going to go and I'm going to make that happen because the connection is what I'm trying to feel this year.” It can sound fluffy like I say, but when you really start to think about things through that lens, it just actually provides momentum and provides a situation where you may well actually get to the end of the year with that same feeling that you wanted and you'll have so many experiences and enjoyment along the way.

That is it for today's quick tip episode. Just ask yourself, how do I want to feel? Then realistically, how can I pull that feeling and cultivate that feeling in what I'm doing in my day-to-day activity in my business and in my life? I would love to know which feelings you want to have this year. Don't be a stranger. You can always DM us @mydailybusinesscoach on Instagram, or you can email us at Hello@mydailybusinesscoach.com. Again, a reminder group coaching is open if you'd like to get on and enjoy your feelings with other people enjoying their feelings, and sharing that with like-minded business owners and myself for 12 months. That kicks off in March, and we are currently conducting interviews with people that have already applied. If you are keen, get on over to mydailybusinesscoach.com/groupcoaching as early as you can, and I look forward to you meeting and connecting with you there. Thanks so much for listening.
