Our favourite tools for small business owners
To discover the latest tools and platforms we are loving, make sure you’re subscribed to our weekly email and our twice-weekly podcast. For our recommendations on contractors, such as graphic designers, branding agencies, PR agents, photographers and copywriters just send us an email (hello@mydailybusiness.com) and we would be happy to introduce you to amazing gems.
Canva
Is there a tool more necessary or loved by small business owners - especially those of us not proficient in PhotoShop? This drag & drop graphic design tool makes creating visual content (including social media posts, website banners, invitations, pitch documents and keynotes) simple and efficient.
It can feel like you have to become a media empire these days to keep up with content output and marketing. If you are creating any sort of video or podcast you need a tool like Riverside. We use this to record our podcasts, edit videos for social media and basically create content easily.
Kajabi
We use the Kajabi platform to house our courses and group coaching portals. While it’s not the cheapest platform out there, it is worth the cost with easy to use tools for setting up everything from a simple landing page or sales offer through to extensive online courses, group coaching hubs and even forums.
Uniqu Lightbox
We get it. Not everyone has the budget to employ a photographer, particularly when you are just starting out which is where this tool comes in handy. It allows you to just input your phone (in portrait or landscape) and take photos and videos overhead (i.e. of you sketching) as well as from a distance, thanks to a nifty bluetooth remote. We love it.
Xero
Xero was the very first paid tool I invested in for my business, after a good friend told me to “start as you mean to go on” when it comes to tracking your finances. This tool has been a god send in SO many ways and I am forever recommending it to others.
We might be slightly bias as Passion. Purpose. Profit (our book) is featured in this list, but alongside that you’ll find some other fantastic books to help you start and/or scale your small business.
