And that's just available at marketingforyoursmallbusiness.com.

So if you're like, Oh gosh, I'm really annoyed that I missed out. Definitely go and buy the online course now you can get stuck into that. And then when we offer this again, you will get it at a really, really reduced price because you already have the course. So again, if you're interested in that, just jump on over to marketingforyoursmallbusiness.com.

Alright, so like I mentioned before, today is a quick tip episode. And just before I jump in, I just want to acknowledge the traditional owners on the land in which I record this podcast and run my business, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation, and I pay my respects to their Elders past, present and emerging. So let's jump in.

And today it's a quick tip one, but it is one that you probably need a notepad for, or your iPhone open or some way that you can take notes. And if you're driving, or you're at the gym, you can always find all the show notes over at mydailybusinesscoach.com/podcast. Alright, enough of the intro, let's get into today's episode.

So if you've listened to this podcast, and you listen to my interviews with small business owners, one of the questions that I ask every single person who comes on is what are the tech tools? Or what are the tech platforms or apps that you use that you just couldn't run your business without. And in my own business, the Google Drive and Google Workspace and Google suites are one of those platforms for me, we absolutely use them all day every day. And like most people on the planet, I was using Google as my main search engine, I switched over about a year ago to Ecosia if anyone's interested. And it basically it's just the same, but it does some good things for the planet as well.

But despite switching over to that I still, like I said, I use a lot of Google products in my business. And I wanted to talk about five Google products that are probably a bit lesser known, that may be able to help you with your business. Now, these are just five of many. Google has so much free stuff out there, that is really, really helpful for small businesses. So you know, like I said, whether you liked them, whether you hate them, they do offer some really good products.

So in no particular order, I thought I'd go through five of them today.

#1 Google Fonts.

And you will find that just at fonts.google.com. And it's a really awesome website, I kind of came across this by accident A few years ago, and I was like, but how do I not know this existed? Because you know, if you're looking for a font for a rebrand, or just some new business cards, I don't know, does anyone use business cards anymore, like an email template, or, you know, maybe you're doing a sub brand of your sub collection or a new kind of collection that has its own sub brand, and you want a new typography for it, then this is a great place to check out. So you can literally just check out Google fonts. And it not only allows you to search through open source kind of web fonts, but also to download them in zip files, which you can then upload to your preferred design tool.

I know that if you're on like the paid version of Canva, you can upload your own brand fonts into that. So that's Google fonts. And again, all the links will be over in the show notes which is available at mydailybusinesscoach.com/podcast. So that's number one, Google Fonts

#2 Google Market Finder

And the URL for this is just marketfinder.thinkwithgoogle.com. And I absolutely love this. So if you're considering like expanding your offering, but you're not entirely sure which direction to head, this nifty tool actually allows you to simply enter in like your business website. And then it'll sort of assess what kind of business it is, and it will give you kind of categories to choose from. So if I put in My Daily Business Coach, it would probably bring up business coach marketing, might bring up like life coaching careers and other stuff.

And it spits out this sort of selection of products, you could offer along with like the top countries that utilizing those services through search data. And it not only, you know, takes that information, but it also shows you income, the median income in that area, suggested spend on kind of AdWords, if you wanted to advertise your business to people searching from within those countries. And it's especially great to for those of us in the service industry, who especially now with the pandemic might be going you know what, I'm not going to just stick to this particular territory, I'm actually going to expand out, you know, perfect for like online courses, such as marketing for your small business available at marketingforyoursmallbusiness.com.

But yeah, honestly, it's such a good little tool. So that's Google market finder, also a great one for product. So if you're thinking of I want to, you know, start advertising to this particular audience to buy my products, you can have a look at what's the median income in those countries? What kind of ad spend, would I be looking at? What are the keywords, and it's just a great little tool. So that's Google Market Finder.

#3 Google Digital Garage.

And I always have to try and make garage sound very posh, because I'm used to saying garage. So named the digital garage, I think they might have changed it to like digital learning or something. This is just like an online collection of free courses about digital marketing, about e-commerce, about SEO, all sorts of stuff, which, you know, surprise, surprise, teaches you loads about Google's products like AdWords, Google Analytics, that sort of stuff.

But it also has some really great online learning opportunities. And I don't think it's necessarily awesome for say, people like me, who have a pretty solid understanding of marketing. But I do think it is a fantastic tool for like micro or small business owners who need to brush up on digital marketing basics such as, you know, SEO overviews, or like, What does remarketing mean? And how does it work, that sort of stuff. So definitely worthwhile if you're starting out, and you kind of want to save your pennies. So that is Google digital garage. And you can find that at learndigital.withgoogle.com/digitalgarage. So that is number three.

#4 Google Keep.

And you'll find that just at google.com/keep. So if you're anything like me, you might have random notes like saved in your note app on your phone, I have so many, you might have paper diaries, of which I also have so many, you might have post it notes, you might have whiteboards, you might have all sorts of things. And Google Keep is actually a way of basically keeping all that information in one spot. And I started using it a while ago, I've kind of come in and out of it. But I think it's a good one for lots of reasons. And it's basically a Chrome plugin. So if you use Chrome as your kind of browser on your internet, it's a Chrome plugin that allows you to save URLs like text images, and kind of access them from any device. So it's sort of like Pinterest plus notes plus other stuff all put together. And as well as that you can actually set reminders to notes. So for example, if you say something for your partner, and then you like save the URL, then set a reminder for when you need to buy it. So you might see something like that would be a really good birthday present. And I'm just going to put this into my Google Keep, but actually don't need to buy a birthday present for like six months. So please remind me in five months, and I can buy it in time for a birthday. And of course, there's so many ways that you could use this in your business as well. You can add labels to your note, say for instance, you're working on a Mother's Day campaign. And you might just be randomly pulling together ideas for the Mother's Day campaign, you could put in the label Mother's Day campaign, and it would just kind of it's almost like a tag, it could pull all those things together. And like I said, Yeah, it's a bit like Pinterest and notes pulled together. And I love both of those apps. And I use them all the time. So you know, something that combines them is even better. Plus, you can add collaborators, which is really good for team projects. So that is Google Keep.

#5 Google Alerts.

And I work with so many clients on setting up their Google Alerts. So Google Alerts is like an online tool I've been using for years and years and you can use it for everything from influencer research to content ideas through to campaign collateral just so much stuff can be used through Google Alerts. So instead of spending hours on the internet, like researching, and you kind of go down these rabbit holes, you simply just add in this HTM that you'd like to hear about. So you might be like, I want to hear about low tox life because that is important to my audience. That's what I talk about. And so you can, you can put it in low tox life. And then you could narrow by region. And by medium, so you could say, I just want to see videos, because I'm on YouTube, and I just, you know, want to see videos that other people are doing about this, you can put in news, you might just be like, you know, I only want to see news articles that let's hope have been factually checked. Or you could put blogs or you can pull it over.

And basically, you'll get an email notification listing all the top content pieces that match your result. So instead of you going, I better go through this newspaper, and this newspaper, and this newspaper looking for anything around low tox life, or you know, just putting it as a Google search. And then going through like pages and pages and pages and lots of crap, you can put in the Google Alert, click news, click only want to hear news from Saudi Arabia, or South Africa, if you're in that region, and it will just deliver that to and you can choose, I want to have it as it happens. So if you are in PR, or another area where you kind of need to know the news right now, then you could put it as it happens, and it will just ping to your email, or you could see, and then ping, or you could get distracted myself, you could set it up so that it sends you a bunch of these every week. So it could send you like once a week on a Thursday, you know that Thursday is your content time, between one and three. And so the email comes on Thursday, and you've got all these great content ideas to work with. So that is Google Alerts.

So just to recap, the five Google products that you may not know that exists, they're free for you to go and use for your small business

·        #1 Google Fonts

·        #2 Google Market Finder

·        #3 Google Digital Garage

·        #4 Google Keep

·        #5 Google Alerts

Now there are so many more great Google products. And I'm probably going to record another episode with another five that I think are just awesome and people don't know about. So listen out for that. Make sure you hit subscribe so you don't miss it. But yeah, if you found that useful, I would love it. If you could share it with a small business friend just you know, it's gonna help them maybe you can both go searching for like the coolest font on Google Fonts together.
