Hello and welcome to episode 223 of the My Daily Business Coach podcast. Today. It is a quick tip episode and definitely, it's one. If you do not have a big marketing team, if you don't have a graphic designer who works with you, it is something that can really help you extend your brand in all sorts of ways, really easily and quickly. So before we get stuck into that, I want to acknowledge the traditional owners and custodians of the beautiful land on which I record this podcast. That is the Wurundjeri and Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation. And I pay my respects to their elders, past, present, and emerging, and acknowledge that sovereignty has never been ceded. The other thing I wanted to mention today is if you're listening in real-time, we are closing the applications for Group Coaching. So last final call.

If you're interested, make sure you get over to mydailybusinesscoach.com/groupcoaching and apply today because we are starting very soon in two weeks. And just wanna make sure that there's no one out there that's gonna come to us. Like we always have people a couple of months later say, or even weeks later, I'll be like, Hey, when are you gonna run that again? And it's like, we're not running it in 2022. So this is your final warning. Final chance. If you wanna join Group Coaching, make sure you get over to mydailybusinesscoach.com/groupcoaching and apply. All right, let's get into today's quick tip episode.

I always seem to start things with “so”, but that's just how I talk. So hopefully you like it. But today we are talking about the brand and visual elements of the brand, and it's a quick tip episode, so I'm gonna make it quick. One of the biggest things that people can worry about when they first start a brand, particularly actually, it's kind of it's across the board, but I would say more so probably in service-based businesses is how do I put myself out there? And I do lots of different talks about this. I am speaking it life and style in a couple of days on this exact topic of humanizing your brand and getting yourself out there. But one thing we can do is we'll go and get some brand photos, people go and get headshots, or they'll get like a really nice brand photo, shoot done.

And you might end up with, let's say 6 to 30 photos, depending on kind of the photographer that you use. And so you'll use those and you'll use them and you'll get so sick of those photos over time. Believe me, I'm putting my hand up here of yourself and you'll be like, I wish I had something different now without having to necessarily go through and do a whole nother shoot, which I definitely think that people should be doing them regularly. I actually had three booked during COVID and they all had to be changed because of lockdown. So I'm getting onto one of them very soon, but we're actually rebranding. So there's a whole, whole thing going on in the background anyway, back to you, before you go and do a whole other shoot, there are ways to repurpose the photos that you already have.

And a quick way to do that is literally to take the background off them. And people be like, it's kind of still the same photo. It can look so different people. So let's say you have a headshot of yourself and you have used it. And let's just use an example for me. I have a headshot. I have multiple shots in our house, which is a log cabin. We have actually painted that house. It looks very different from how it looked in that photo shoot, which was six years ago, I look very different. People always say, “Your hair's long grown.” And I'm like, “Yes because that's a really old photo.” And I need to definitely change them, but you could take one of those headshots say that's against like in my case, a log cabin background, I'm at a desk and it's the background is a little cabin and I could just literally use a tool like Canva.

You can do this in Photoshop. You can do it in so many different programs. Now, I use Canva all the time. CANVA will link to it in the show notes if you haven't used it, but they have like a really quick way of doing this. You literally upload the photo. So me with the logs behind me, and then you just press like one button, which is like edit, remove, let's say two clicks, edit, and then remove background. And it will magically remove everything except me. So it'll basically like cut me out and you could then put it against just a block color of your branding with some text, you could put it against just a white background. If you wanted to make it look more like you were just sitting somewhere else. You could put it against maybe like fabric print of something that you're about to put out all sorts of things.

You can put it against. And it just allows you to then repurpose that photo over and over. Likewise, let's say you did a talk and you had like great photos from the audience or other photos that you were allowed to use in a marketing capacity. You had the usage rights, and all agreed with the photographer and event. You could take that event photo and cut around people and put them against a brand color and talk about something else that you're doing. You could, I mean, you could take any photos. So this is the thing, it's not just your photos. You might have a whole bunch of photos that you've used from royalty-free images like Unsplash or Pexels or any of them. And you could take one of those and just be like, instead of seeing it on the same background, I'm gonna cut around that thing and it could be a person.

It could be an object and just put it onto my brand color as a block color, and then download that and use that as an Instagram tile or anything else. It's something that I know people know about. And it is one of the things that I would say graphic designers use a lot. I have worked in all sorts of places, agencies, books, publishers, and magazine houses. And I used to see the graphic designers doing this all the time. They would constantly be clipping around people. And it's a really, it used to be a very difficult thing to do. You had to be very skilled in order to do it properly, to get the hair, to get all the pieces. It took hours. And now, obviously, technology's come a long way and you've got tools like Canva that can allow you to do it pretty quickly and pretty awesomely.

Like it comes out really well easily. And it just allows you to repurpose content that you've got, which is a huge thing that I do in my own business and something I talk about with my clients all the time, create once repurpose everywhere. So if you are in a position where maybe you don't have the money to spend on another photo shoot right now, or maybe you use the same photo a lot. And you're like, “I wish I could just change that a bit.” So it didn't just look the same all the time. You could literally just use a tool like Canva or any tool and just look up background image removal for that tool or that platform that you're using. And you'll be able to find instructions I'm sure on the world wide web on how to do that.

But in Canva, it is so simple. It is so easy. You just upload your photo and then hit remove background. And then you can literally put anything in the background there, which is just awesome. So that is the quick tip for today. Removing the background of your image can just really allow you to repurpose content without feeling like you're just, spamming everyone with the exact same image. It's also really good if you do speaking gigs and you're always being asked, can you send us a headshot? Can you send us this? And it's annoying to kind of send the same one. You're like, that photo is just like in all the places, instead of we actually will be doing this a lot more, going forward with new brand colors and everything else. Once that's organized just repurpose it, give it a bit of freshness, give it a bit of life.

You might be more excited about sending it out, which gonna increase your confidence, and allows you to get out and market yourself. So you can see that the flow and effect of this simple tactic are really meaningful for your business overall. So that is it for today. A quick tip episode, literally remove the background of your images, give them some freshness and you're on your way, you can repurpose content and feel really good. If you wanted to find the links to Canva or anything else that I've mentioned today, you can find the full show notes for this episode. Over at mydailybusinesscoach.com/podcast/223. I would love to see these photos that you've repurposed. So feel free to send me a DM anytime I'm @mydailybusinesscoach on Instagram. All right, I'll see you later. Bye.
