Do you break promises to yourself? Guilty.

Have you ever started watching a new series on Netflix and silently promised yourself you’ll only watch one episode, only to find that two hours and three episodes later you’re still watching? #Guilty (My latest? The Goop Lab)

As hard as it can be to admit it we break promises to ourselves all the time. But when it comes to making promises to other people, we often try a whole lot harder to show up and stay true to our word.

Whether it’s because we don’t want to let someone else down or because we don’t want to be thought of in a negative light, when someone else expects us to show up, we do.

No matter how passionate you are, there will always be areas of the business you simply don’t feel like tackling. For some biz owners, it’s having difficult conversations with staff, while for others it may be looking at the financial numbers or website analytics. These are things we know we have to do, but we put them off until they become an issue. Likewise, when it comes to business goals, we can have all this fun making plans and creating masterpieces with post-it notes and sharpies. Yet months on, those goals remain simply that – goals – rather than things we have actually accomplished for the business.

Having people around you who not only understand these challenges, but who can also keep you accountable, can mean the difference between a business that merely survives and a business that thrives..

How are you currently being held accountable for the things you’ve promised yourself you’ll do?

Are you showing up for yourself in the areas you know will help grow your business?

Are you staying on top of the more tedious parts of your business so they don’t become a future problem?

Do you regularly check in with others about the business tasks and goals you said you would complete?

Do you have a way to get feedback from trusted advisors on your next collection, campaign or communication tactic?

Do you have a group of business friends you can call on to discuss everything from your pricing strategy through to how to deal with the dreaded comparisonitis?

If your answer to that last question is "no"], you may be interested in my group coaching program. You can read loads more about it here, but in short it's a 12-month program for a group of 10 small biz owners. We get together every fortnight (online, so anyone in the world can take part) to work through an element of business — i.e. networking, content, marketing, finance, PR etc. We do this via my coaching / teaching, as well as group discussions and hot seats. I also invite in experts in their fields (i.e, Finance, SEO etc) in from time to time, for their insights. After each call (which is recorded so you can refer to it again at anytime), you're provided your own Trello board full of actions to take to help cement what you have just learned.

This is a really affordable way to get coaching with me, as well as learn from and have the support of, nine other small biz owners going through many of the same struggles and challenges. We also have meetups IRL, a closed FB group and as much 1:1 contact as you need with me, between sessions.

I say it all the time but no business is an island. We all need others to help keep us motivated and on track to hit our biz goals and map out our future.

If you are keen to get a group of supportive people around you as you grow your business, and get a whole load of affordable coaching from me (as well as the experts I’ll bring in), the group coaching program may just be for you.
